Cataract

Cataract is a disease of the lens of the eye in which the normally clear lens becomes opaque or white. This interferes with vision and can result in blindness. Many owners confuse a less serious problem of older dogs' eyes with cataract (see below). In some cases an eye specialist may be able to operate on the eye to remove the cataract.
