Sanjaya Kanagasundaram
Sanjaya was born in Kandy, Sri Lanka but moved to New Zealand at the age of nine with his family. After graduating from Massey University, Palmerston North with a BVSc in 1987, he worked in a small animal practice near Wellington for three years. Accordant with his peripatetic upbringing he embarked on a two year working holiday to the UK in 1991, a decision which has resulted in a rather longer sojourn. He worked as an associate in a busy small animal practice in Luton for six years, gaining a Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology in 1996.
After getting married in 1997, Sanjaya and Helen moved to Plymouth in order to enjoy a better lifestyle and start a family. Sanjaya's work is mainly at the Veterinary Hospital where he combines general practice with a growing case load in small animal dermatology. He sees referrals from both within the practice and from neighbouring clinics. In his leisure time, Sanjaya mucks about with his son Rohan, plays badminton, loves cookery and grows NZ native plants. In 2005 he gained a first class honours degree in International Studies from the Open University and has embarked on another OU degree in Modern Languages. He also enjoys his extended working holiday by regularly travelling home to NZ and other parts of the world.
