Sharon Grinter
Sharon started her veterinary career at the age of 14 years working in St. Anne’s in Eastbourne some weekends, evenings and in her holidays. She joined our practice on the recommendation of her vet there, whose surgery was not a training centre, as a first year trainee nurse in 1978/79 working at our Hill Park Crescent surgery well before our Veterinary Hospital was built. During this time she also attended Berkshire College of Agriculture where she gained her Veterinary Nurse (VN) qualification.
Sharon then returned to the practice in St. Anne’s and progressed to Head Nurse and finally Practice Manager and worked there for 15 years. She then had a change of direction with maternity and was a Public House landlady for 2 years. However she missed veterinary practice and joined a mixed practice in East Sussex where she again progressed to Head Nurse and qualified as a VN Assessor D32/33 in 2002.
She retired from there that year to be down in Devon with her husband Simon and her daughter and rejoined our practice as the main VN in the Veterinary Health Centre, Plympton in April 2007.
Sharon’s veterinary interests apart from the pleasures of general practice include nurse training (she has trained vet nurses since 1982), anaesthesia and she is currently studying Hills Pet Nutrition modules to improve her knowledge of pet nutrition.
Her hobbies are very competitive especially her equine interest which is shared with her daughter. She has 15 years breeding experience with American Ragdoll cats and enjoys walking their dog in the Westcountry countryside and beaches.
